Cutest gecko Quenches his Thirst by Drinking his Tears in baking Namibian desert

Palmato gecko, a resident of burning Namibian desert, is equipped

with one of the greatest life saving weapon; tears as he is capable of quenching his thirst by lapping up morning due from his own his and face.

The web-footed gecko, also known as the, can be found in the

Namibian desert in Namibia where temperatures can rise to 45 degrees. It survives in the scorching heat by drinking the moisture on its eyes in the milder early hours.

When the morning mist rises from the sea, the web-footed gecko collects the condensation on its eyes and face. The geckos use their webbed feet to run across the fine sand at remarkable speed and to dig a hiding place where they spend their days.
The nocturnal animals also use their long tongue to clean their lidless eyes from sand when they emerge at night. Wildlife photographer Martin Harvey, 57, spent two days hunting for the elusive little lizard, which spends most of the day buried in the desert soil.

Mr Harvey said: ‘They are very hard to find so you have to get an

expert who can find them for you. It takes a bit of driving around to locate one of them because they bury themselves under the sand during the day. That person will then dig them up for you so you can get your photographs. They are remarkably relaxed - they don't spook at all.’
Mr Harvey, from Pretoria, South Africa, added: ‘As I don't want to harass an animal for too long, after 15 minutes we would put them back in the sand and they would bury themselves again.’

The Namib Desert in Namibia is one of the world's oldest and temperatures can reach 45 degrees Celsius.
