Lets Dance with the Dolphins at Bondi Beach

Sydney's famous Bondi Beach is popular among surfers and they like it
cool in the morning but what inspired many a surfers yesterday was the pack of six dolphins which appeared on the beach out of nowhere and decided to give surfers a run for their money.

Dolphins leapt through the rising waves and enthralled the surfers as they have never expected the unexpected visitors today. Bondi Beach, along with nearby Bronte Beach, often has rough surf and the path along the sea cliffs between the two beaches is a prime whale and dolphin sighting spot, though usually between June and August.

Dolphins are a common sight along Sydney's world famous beaches as they
venture close to shore in search of small fish. Last month a pod of five Humpback Whales were sighted in Sydney waters and earlier in August a pod of 50 Bottlenose Dolphins made an appearance.

Dolphins can reach speeds of more than 18 mph and travel in social groups, communicating with each other by a complex system of squeaks and whistles. They cover huge distances during migration and at this time of year they head south to the cooler waters.

Feeding habits and food fish movements may also account for the seasonal movements of some dolphins.
