Born to an African father and a Pakistani mother meant that Mathira
Khan
had an inherently daring attitude with sharp facial features, a combination very uncommon in conservative Pakistan. Perhaps, it is because of this broad-mindedness that Mathira is not afraid to court controversies at a time when her homeland grapples with retrogressive ideologies which sometimes forbid even interaction between different sexes in public, leave alone flaunting feminism.

Be it shedding clothes for modelling assignments or uploading naked
picture on the internet, Mathira has broken all ceilings of feminism
which have bounded the Pakistani women.
She is all set to venture into
another un-chartered territory this year as she would become the first
woman to feature in an item song in a Pakistani movie. Not only
Pakistan, she has also caught the fancy of producers in India and will
feature in an item song in a Punjabi flick ‘Young Malang’.
When asked if she is all the negative publicity which surround her
pictures ever fear her, she replies, “It is all about perception. My
pictures and all that I do may appear positive to some and negative to
others. But I take all the publicity in positive light.”
