Emjpy free Youtube in Pakistan; Government decides to lift ban

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said on

Friday that the government had in principle decided to open YouTube website as it was an effective source of knowledge for students. The minister said that objectionable material published on YouTube should be blocked, rather than imposing a ban on the site.

Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan PM's official website gets record hits

The Pakistan Prime Minister's Office has finally got its own website that is getting

a record number of hits every day. The website, available at pmo.gov.pk, is an initiative of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make his office more accessible and interactive.The website was officially announced by Sharif during his address to the nation last week, when he also unveiled a number of schemes for youths. It became fully functional on Monday.

Top Ranking Universities of Pakistan; Latest Ranking Released by HEC

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) released the “Quality & Research-based Ranking 2013″ for Pakistani universities on Friday.
 
HEC chairman Javaid Laghari said the rankings were based on a criteria

that relied on feedback from universities and international rankings models. “These rankings are supposed to be a mirror – they let the universities know their strengths and weaknesses,” he said. In a press conference, the HEC detailed that the rankings are divided into four discipline-based and three-enrollment-based categories.

Two former students from Pakistan have defied death threats to tie the knot

Imran Khan seriously Injured after Falling from Stage; Receives 15 Stitches in the Head

Former cricket star Imran Khan has been injured after falling 15


feet off a stage at a political rally in Pakistan. Khan fell at least 5 meters - 15 feet - off what appeared to be a makeshift elevator raising him up to the stage. Local TV footage showed supporters carrying Khan away from the rally. His face was bloody and he appeared unconscious.

World Famous Fighter Pilot M.M. Alam passes away



M. M. Alam, the hero of the 1965 war, passed away after a protracted illness,

here on Monday. A PAF spokesman said in a statement here that the Chief of the Air Staff, on behalf of all ranks of Pakistan Air Force, announced with great grief and sorrow that ‘our national hero, world famous fighter pilot and a legend of the 1965 war, Air Commodore (Retired) Muhammad Mahmood Alam breathed his last this morning in Karachi after a prolonged illness’. He was 78- years- old. ‘Our hero left us to make his final flight to the eternal destination. Personality, character and sacrifices of this brave Pakistani are beyond any word of description’. ‘May Allah grant him eternal peace, Ameen’, the PAF spokesman added.

Tribesmen Stoned Pakistani Soldier to death over affair with a local woman



Anwar Din, 27, who allegedly developed relations with 19-year-old Intizar Bibi

 had been stoned to death on the orders of a tribal court. The couple had been caught red handedly having a secret meeting. The relation between the two had started on a previous posting of the soldier to the semi-autonomous tribal areas, according to reports. He was reassigned to a different posting but had returned in recent days to see the woman, 19-year-old Intizar Bibi.

45 Dies as Blast ravages Shia Dominated neighbourhood



Karachi is facing worst manslaughter since years as recent violence

has claimed 45 lives and atleast 135 injured in a massive bombing in the city’s Shia-dominated neighbourhood of Abbas Town on Sunday evening. Earleir it was claimed that blast occurred near imambargah but later it was revealed that it occurred at the time of Maghrib prayers between two apartment blocks at the entrance to Abbas Town.

China Harbour Engineering Company Limited to take Controll of Gwadar Port on Feb 7: Dhedhi

Aqeel Kareem Dhedhi, one of three major shareholders of Gwadar port,
has revealed that China Harbour Engineering Company Limited will take the control of major deep sea port of Pakistan and transfer deal will be inked on February 7 for $35 million. The other shareholders include the Port of Singapore Authority (60 percent) and the National Logistics Cell (20 percent).

Pakistani Cabinet Approves for China to take control of Gwadar port

Gwadar, deep sea strategically important Pakistani port, operatioanl at 15%
capacity since 2007, is being run by Singapore's PSA International Pte Ltd but the company failed to complete transanction so Pakistani cabinet has approved transfer of the control of port to China Overseas Port Holdings Limited, to purchase control of the port from Singapore's company.
