"Sorry Lanka, it's our Cup. I
love Sri Lanka, but it's going to be West Indies all the way."
West Indian team fought numerous
battles not against others but within their team. After loosing their grounds
in nineties, they were all shattered. Even the greats of Brian Lara failed to
unite them but the flamboyant Chris Gayle, with
the bat and even with the mike, united them at the moment when they advanced to
the finals of wrld T-20s, all because of the heroics of Gayle. After winning
the Man of the Match award in the World T20 semifinal against Australia, the
feisty batsman thundered that West Indies were on a roll and nobody can stop
them from winning the tournament. The Caribbeans play hosts Sri Lanka in the final
on Sunday.
His captain, Darren Sammy
was a contended man. "We did what we had to do. Everybody turned up. Chris
(Gayle) and Marlon (Samuels) set it up for us and then the bowling turned up
too.
If you look at the quality in the
dressing room, if we go out on the field and execute our plans, we can beat
any
team. Beaten captain George Bailey
tried to make sense of the walloping: "We were absolutely outplayed. Gayle
was subdued for a while but while he's at the crease he's always in your mind.
But we set ourselves to get to the semifinals."
He added, "I don't think there's one area specifically where we can improve in. Probably in all three."
