The last time Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani came together for a
project,
they rewrote box office history with 3 Idiots. The first film
to enter the Rs 200 Crore club, 3 Idiots was India’s biggest blockbuster
ever, until that record was recently broken by Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai
Express.
While everyone expected Hirani to make the third
Munnabhai film after 3 idiots, the director chose to reunite with
'Rancho', for yet another unconventional comedy with a social message.
Like
all Aamir Khan films, there is tremendous secrecy around P.K and a lot
of curiosity around Khan’s look in the film. Photos leaked from the sets
suggest that Khan is all set to surprise his fans yet again with a
maverick character.
As per earlier reports P.K was to open on Republic
Day, but Salman Khan blocked that date for his home production Jai Ho,
which is directed by Sohail Khan. Salman has also blocked EID for Kick,
while Diwali and Christmas belong to SRK and Ranbir Kapoor who will
arrive with Happy New Year and Bombay Velvet respectively.
However now the confusion over the release date is over, and P.K will arrive in cinemas on June 06 2014.
This gives perfectionist Aamir Khan a six-month
break after his December 2013 release Dhoom 3, but he will not have the
advantage of a festival date. However given Aamir and Hirani’s flawless
record, the trade feels that the quality of the film will be enough to
make sure it breaks opening records even without a lucrative release
date.
So will P.K recreate the 3 Idiots magic? We shall find out in June 2014.
