BARACK Obama was sworn in as US President for a
second term yesterday — with wife Michelle holding the family bible for him.
He took the oath in a White House ceremony conducted by Chief JusticeJohn Roberts watched by daughters Malia, 14, and 11-year-old Sasha — who then told him: “Good job, Dad.” In a small and succinct ceremony at the White House, Obama recited the constitutionally mandated oath of office for the third of four expected times during his time in office.
Embracing his children after the oath, his younger daughter Sasha was heard to whisper “good job, Daddy!”
"I did it!" he responded, before she observed "You didn't mess up."
Yesterday’s ceremony was in private to meet a January 20 deadline.
Today the President took the oath again on the steps of the US Capitol and deliver his inaugural speech before an audience of 800,000.
Sunday's official swearing-in, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, was the 57th inauguration of a president in American history.
