At least four people, including an SP and DSP Kamal Khan Mangan, were
killed and 10 others injured in twin blasts in the Sherpao Colony of Landhi area, Karachi on Thursday. The first blast took place in a dump yard in Landhi, and the second blast occurred as rescue teams were leaving for the site. An SHO was also among the injured.
Thursday marks the eve of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabbiul Awwal), which is celebrated across the country every year to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Security arrangements have been beefed up and cellular services will be banned in several areas across the country on Friday to avert terror attacks.
Last week, one person was killed and two sustained injuries in a hand grenade
attack in the Manghopir area of Karachi. Earlier, two people were injured in a similar attack at a petrol pump in Surjani Town, and at a scrap store in Orangi Town.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah Thursday strongly condemned blasts in Landhi which killed one DSP and two policemen and directed IG Sindh Police to immediately submit report about the incident. Chief Minister has also issued directives to ensure strict security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in the entire province.
